HIGH PRIORITY !

UPDATE: APRIL 5, 2014:

4 05 2014
Permits are in process, I'm told.

UPDATE: JANUARY 14, 2014:

In a meeting today, residents were informed an upcoming Capital project to replace the parking areas and walkways is tentatively slated to begin April 2014.  Stay tuned...

These photos were taken October 5th, 2013.  The painting occurred October 4th, 2013. KCHA communicated to me the paint is to provide a caution to residents of potential tripping hazards. However, in trying to avoid the "caution paint", a resident may easily trip over a hazard that was not painted. There are so many! From my perspective, proper repairs are possible (as depicted in the first photo). We may be low income, but we deserve a safe passage as we traverse the property.

Wow, that’s disgraceful! I’ll be embarrassed to have visitors come over with that hack job out there! Maybe we should solicit some cement mason to donate his services and just fix the dang thing the right way, then alert the media, of course, to his kind helpfulness when we couldn’t get the housing authority to address a safety concern.

This is simply BEYOND stupidity!! Why go to the bother and energy of painting?? Why not just put up traffic cones....or a flashing light...or a recording that repeatedly screams WARNING....or, wait, I know...why not just FIX THE SIDEWALKS??!! Just because the residents are poor doesn't mean that they're MORONS.

Just when you think that management can't be any lazier or uncaring....SUPRISE!!

To respond to CraftyNana, I would not describe management as being lazy. But it is beyond my comprehension as to why proper repairs were not done this past year. If they say it is due to lack of funding, I'll refer people to "Who's Guarding the Vault". This is a very upsetting situation. We are supposed to get new lighting. It is my understanding a contractor has been hired. The project was supposed to have started - or so I thought - and yet here we are with the same inadequate lighting and crumbling sidewalks. Winter is coming with shorter days and grey and wet weather. It's very distressing, to say the least.
